Fixes an issue which causes the chef at a restaurant to stand outside idling for two hours, instead of going inside to cook.

Bug

When visiting a restaurant, either as a dining guest or as a restaurant owner, the chef will stand outside and perform no actions, instead of entering the restaurant and heading over to the chef station.

This state will automatically time out after two in-game hours, at which point they will enter the restaurant and operate normally. Or you can manually reset the chef to force them into their working state.

When the chef first spawns in at a restaurant, they will be in an ‘arrival state’ where their focus will be to route to the chef station and perform an interaction called “chefStation_begin”. This interaction performs a constraint test, which looks for objects filtered with the chef station tag, but I think this test is broken, resulting in the chef doing nothing.

This mod changes the tuning file for the “chefStation_begin” interaction, and removes the tagged object constraint. I’ve replaced it with a different type of constraint which compels the chef to face the target object.

Notes

• This mod is for people who own Dine Out game pack, since the July 2021 game update version 1.53.115.1020 for PC/Mac.
• The mod changes the tuning for the ‘chefstation_begin’ interaction. If you have any other mods which change the same tuning file, they may clash.
• There’s also a mod by 83bienchen called ‘restaurantcheffix’ which also addresses this bug, but using a totally different method. Use whichever mod you find works best for you, but not both at the same time.

Downloading and installing the mod

Download the mod package file and place it in your Mods folder for The Sims 4, found in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods.
